Writing

This year, our district will continue our implementation of the Units of Study for Narrative, Informational and Opinion writing by Lucy Calkins. These units will be taught through a writer’s workshop in which students are immersed in rich, authentic writing each and every day! We are beginning the year with a narrative unit. Students have studied the art of writing personal narratives in the other grades, so this unit will build upon their prior knowledge. The rest of the units are as follows:
